BAİBÜ Faculty of Arts and Sciences Department of Chemistry Dr. Lecturer Ercan Selçuk Ünlü, a member of Anadolu Agency, told Anadolu Agency (AA) that their agricultural biotechnology studies aim to understand the interactions between creatures living in nature at the molecular level and to obtain a usable product from it.

Explaining that they carried out experiments on iziza wheat within the scope of R&D studies in the entrepreneurship company they established in Teknokent, Ünlü said, “We isolated and purified the natural microorganisms living in their roots. We made biochemical characterization studies of the bacteria obtained. Then we measured their quality and impact values ​​using the facilities at our university to contribute to the economy of our country. Our results show that the fertilizer we produce is at a level that can be used in the market. ” said.

“Can be used in all field crops”

Ünlü pointed out that the effect of microbial fertilizers for increasing yield and protecting plants is known, “The registration process of the microbial fertilizer we produce from the bacteria in the roots of Iza wheat has reached the final stage in terms of protection of copyrights. Our research shows that it can also be used in plant groups in a wider environment. we can use it almost all. ” used the expression.

Pointing out that the chemical materials used in traditional agriculture are not beneficial in terms of sustainable agriculture, Ünlü emphasized that they cause serious damage to the soil and the ecosystem.

Expressing that they want to develop an alternative to chemical products with such studies, Ünlü continued as follows:

“The biggest advantage of the fertilizer we produce compared to the fertilizers in the market is that it is obtained from nature. These microorganisms live in the roots of the plant together with these species. Bacteria perform many functions such as converting nitrogen in the roots of plants, absorbing phosphate by dissolving in the soil, absorbing iron like iron. The major disadvantage is that it disrupts the ecosystem. When the ecosystem deteriorates, the soil becomes inefficient and we need more chemical fertilizers over time. But if we use microbial fertilizers, we constantly support the ecosystem. In this way, you increase the fertility of the soil. “

“You can achieve a yield increase of 15 percent to 40 percent depending on the plant group.”

Dr. Lecturer Member Ünlü pointed out that if the microbial fertilizers they produce are produced on an industrial scale, they can be obtained at 10 times more affordable price than chemical fertilizers in the market, “When we look at the increase in yield, you can achieve a yield increase of 15 to 40 percent compared to the plant group you use. You can increase its yield up to 40 percent at an affordable price. There are also studies on the use of chemical fertilizers along with microbial fertilizers. Again, there is a serious increase in yield. When you do this, you reduce the use of chemicals. ” said.

Ömer Can Ünüvar, a PhD student at BAİBÜ Chemistry Department, stated that they scientifically proved that they achieved a 20% increase in wheat root quality with this fertilizer and said, “With the project, we reveal the suppressive effects on each other and the plant quality enhancing properties by reproducing the bacteria isolated from the region.
