US scientists from John Hopkins University, Dr. Erin Michos and Dr Houston Methodist Hospital. Miguel Cainzos-Achirica stated in the scientific article they wrote last Friday that vitamin C and zinc supplements do not provide any benefit in the fight against coronavirus. Dr. Michos stated that they looked at the results of the clinical studies conducted on 214 coronavirus patients and that they did not need to continue the research further.
US scientists announced that vitamin C and zinc, which is given to people with flu and provides benefits in recovery, does not benefit coronavirus patients. Dr. Erin Michos and Dr. Miguel Cainzos-Achirica stated that when they looked at the data they obtained in the preliminary study results, they came to the conclusion that it was unnecessary to carry scientific research further.
SYMPTOMS HAVE NOT DECREASED IN PATIENTS WITH CORONAVIRUS
In the clinical trial, 214 coronavirus patients treated at home were divided into 4 groups. One group received vitamin C, the second group received zinc and the third group received both vitamin C and zinc supplements. The last group received standard care and treatment, and no supplements of vitamin C and zinc were given. As a result of the research, it was observed that the symptoms of coronavirus patients who used vitamin C and zinc in combination or alone did not decrease.
SEVERE SIDE EFFECTS OBSERVED
Side effects were observed in some of the coronavirus patients who took high-dose supplements. Dr. Erin Michos stated that more side effects (nausea, diarrhea, and stomach cramps) were reported in the supplement group than in the standard care group.
