US software company Microsoft urged Windows users to urgently install an update after security officials found a serious vulnerability in the operating system.

The vulnerability, named PrintNightmare, has been stated to affect the Windows Print Spooler service.

Researchers at cybersecurity company Sangfor noted that they have found vulnerabilities in the print spooler that allows multiple users to access a printer.

In a statement on this, Microsoft warned that hackers who could exploit the vulnerability could install programs on people’s computers, view and delete data, and even create new user accounts with full user rights.

The alert also states that the vulnerability could provide hackers with enough command and control to do serious damage.

It was stated that the vulnerability could damage computers with all versions installed, including Windows 7, whose support was terminated by Microsoft last year, and “We recommend that you install the updates immediately.”
