The 1st stage of TEKNOFEST Turkey Drone Championship has been completed!

Within the scope of TEKNOFEST Aviation, Space and Technology Festival, the first stage of the Turkey Drone Championship, organized by STM Defense Technologies, was held in Elazig. Having successfully completed the first stage, 24 athletes qualified to compete in the second stage of the championship in Bergama. Elazig Governor Erkaya Yırık, Elazığ Mayor Şahin Şerifoğulları and Turkey Technology Team Foundation Manager Ömer Kökçam attended the first stage opening of the championship.

The first stage of the race, in which Turkey’s best 32 licensed pilots participated, witnessed exciting moments. The pilots participating in the championship competed on the track specially prepared for the competition, with the vehicles designed and assembled by themselves. Athletes matched in groups according to the results of the qualifying rounds were included in the scoring as a result of the competition in accordance with the Turkish Air Sports Federation UAV Competition instructions. In the first stage where the fastest pilots of Turkey competed, Atakan Mercimek became the first, Batu Erilkun second, and Doruk Cengiz, the youngest 9-year-old athlete of the competition, came third.
As a result of the second stage races of the Turkish Drone Championship, the 16 athletes who get the best score will be eligible to compete in the Grand Final, which will be held at Istanbul Atatürk Airport on September 21-22, within the scope of TEKNOFEST 2021. The winner of the Turkish Drone Championship Grand Final race will represent our country at TEKNOFEST 2021 World Drone Cup. Our Turkish Drone National Team, which will be formed from the top 3 athletes after the grand final, will also have the right to represent our country in the International races to be held in 2022. In the championship, in which vehicles with high speed and maneuverability and designed entirely based on the user’s command ability will take place, the first prize will be 7,000 TL, the second prize will be 5,000, and the third prize will be 4,000 TL.

TEKNOFEST Turkey Drone Championship, which was held for the first time in Elazig, excited technology enthusiasts in the surrounding provinces and Elazig. It is an event that has been held for 5 years and today we are performing its first phase in Elazig. 32 of our athletes will compete, and we will hold the second stage in Izmir in August with 24 of our athletes. Later, 16 of our athletes will compete in TEKNOFEST in Istanbul, and then two of our athletes will compete on behalf of Turkey in the World Drone Championship.” used the phrases.
