The number of users of Starlink, a satellite-based global internet project of SpaceX, a private space company owned by Elon Musk, has been announced.
The number of users benefiting from this service of SpaceX, which has recently signed dozens of Starlink missions in 60 parties, has exceeded 10 thousand.
In the statement made by the company, it was also underlined that Starlink’s beta program is being recorded in the USA and Europe.
The company, which started beta trials in October of last year, charged users $ 499 for the installation of the Starlink Kit and $ 99 for the monthly subscription.
SpaceX has previously stated that the speed of the internet service offered by orbiting satellites will be between 50Mb / s and 150Mb / s.
However, in the test conducted by Ookla in recent months, Starlink satellites offered upload speeds from Mbps to 18 Mbps.
Elon Musk aims to provide fast and cheap internet service to all over the world with thousands of satellites to be sent to space.
Over a thousand satellites were sent to orbit within the scope of the project. After this move, Musk’s company became in control of 1 out of every 4 satellites in orbit.
SpaceX plans to launch 12,000 internet satellites in total within the framework of the Starlink project.
The project is expected to be completed in 2027.
