New record for internet speed broken at 319 terabits per second

In the statement of the National Institute of Information and Communication Technologies (NICT), Japan, information was given about the new internet speed record.

Accordingly, NICT engineers broke the world’s new fastest internet record with 319 terabits per second.

It was emphasized that the new record was achieved by adopting fiber amplifiers reinforced with erbium and thulium elements.

It has been argued that the internet speed, which can be achieved with fiber cables laid 3 thousand kilometers long, can be achieved with the cable infrastructure used today.

The record is nearly double the 178 terabits reached last year, and the 44.2 terabit speed recorded the previous year is nearly 7 times.
