National Combat Aircraft to be delivered to the Turkish Air Force in 2028

Turkish Aviation and Space Industry Inc. (TUSAŞ) General Manager Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil attended the “SUBÜ Speeches” organized by Sakarya University of Applied Sciences (SUBÜ) with the title “Vision of Domesticness in Aviation Industry and National Projects of Turkey” with a video conference.

SUBU Technology Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Speaking at the event moderated by Yusuf Çay, Kotil emphasized the importance of working hard to achieve the goals.

Talking about the developments in his career, Kotil talked about the establishment purpose and fields of activity of TAI.

Explaining that approximately 4 thousand engineers work within TUSAŞ, Kotil said that this number will increase to 10 thousand by 2028 and that most of them will be young engineers, “All we want from the friends to come to us is to have superb English. All the documents we use are in English. we will hire before we finish. ” said.

Kotil answered the question about the latest situation in the National Combat Aircraft Project, “Turkey’s most important project is by far the National Combat Aircraft. It starts the engine on March 18, 2023, leaves the hangar, but there is a 2-year test period to fly it. When it takes off, there is no turning back. In 2028, we deliver this plane to the Air Force, locally and nationally. ” He spoke in the form.

Emphasizing that helicopter production is their strongest field, Kotil said that thanks to T129, engineers and technicians were trained as helicopters and this process was strengthened with Gökbey.

Talking about the targets of TAI, Kotil said, “When we look at the turnover we have achieved, we are in the top 50s in the world. Our goal is to make TAI to the top 10 by 2028. This time, we want to realize this as TAI.” used the expression.

“Not giving the F-35 means we work harder”

Referring to Turkey’s continuing communication and surveillance satellite studies, Kotil made evaluations on the F-35 program.

Reminding that the United States of America (USA) announced that it would not give Turkey the F-35, Kotil emphasized that the decision was not correct.

Pointing out that the second dimension of the issue is industrial cooperation, Kotil said:

“The F-35 is a 5th generation fighter plane. The National Combat Aircraft is a 5th generation fighter, but a little different from it. The Americans have two types of warplanes; F-22 and F-35. Actually, the F-22 is an attack aircraft. It has higher air-to-air capability. The F-35 was built mostly to hit air-to-ground targets. The National Combat Aircraft sits in the middle of the two. Not giving the F-35 means more work. We were already determined to do this, but this time it is beyond the decision. we have to now. “

Kotil stated that software is important in the air industry and advised young people to turn to software.

Stating that the efforts of names such as Vecihi Hürkuş and Nuri Demirağ in the past are energetic for them, Kotil said, “If we work so much today, their share is much. May Allah be pleased with them.” said.
