prof. Dr. Mustafa Sarı said, “The Sea of Marmara has no power to lift even 1 liter of waste. If we cut off the waste given to the Sea of Marmara today, it would take a year for the sea to recover itself.” said.

prof. Dr. Mustafa Sarı, in his speech at the information meeting held at the Erdek Indoor Sports Hall, said that he talked about mucilage (sea saliva) since November last year.

Explaining that the current between the surface and the bottom of the Sea of Marmara is very low, Sarı said:

“The Marmara Sea can no longer bear this pollution burden. The gulfs of Gemlik and Bandırma are polluted in the first degree, and the Gulf of Erdek in the second degree. Mucilage kills the fish whose gills are blocked, mass fish deaths occur. A new waste policy must be put into practice for the Sea of Marmara. “There is no point in looking for the guilty about the pollution of the sea. The Sea of Marmara has no power to remove even 1 liter of waste. If we cut off the waste given to the Sea of Marmara today, it would take a year for the sea to recover itself.”

After his speech, Sarı also answered the questions of the participants.
