İsmail Demir: We can now send our systems

President of the Presidency Defense Industry (SSB) İsmail Demir stated that the work carried out in the field of space will continue to increase and said, “Hopefully, we will walk step by step towards a world where our own unique communication and observation satellites are in space, where we can go to space with our own launch systems, and where we have various modules that can make space travel.” said.

Demir made the opening speech of the “After 2023 Defense and Space Technologies” session held within the scope of V-Talks, the Productivity and Technology Fair.

Pointing out that Turkey has determined a space road map, Demir said that the first concepts that came to the agenda about space were satellites.

Demir stated that communication and observation satellites were built with various foreign collaborations, “Today we can say that we have rockets to reach space. In general, space studies are subjects that are managed for scientific, peaceful and civilian purposes. All these studies also contribute to the field of defense.” he said.

Stating that ROKETSAN has reached space with solid fuel rocket engines, Demir said, “Now we can send our systems. We can navigate in space.” said. Demir stated that space travel will continue increasingly after 2023 in this direction, and said:

“Hopefully, we will walk step by step towards a world where our own unique communication and observation satellites are in space, where we can go to space with our own launch systems, and where we have various modules that can make space travel. The capabilities and technologies created in the defense industry will constitute the main technology areas of this journey.”

“We know we need to advance this journey quickly”

Pointing out that space travel will be carried out with human resources, Demir emphasized that scientists should work for the development of human resources.

Pointing out that the satellite test and production centers are currently in operation, Demir said, “Our rocket works continue.
