First test successfully completed on hybrid rocket engine

Minister Varank examined the Rocket Engine Ignition Facility of Delta V Space Technologies Inc., an affiliate of the Presidency of Defense Industry.

Varank, with national resources developed by Delta V, Turkey’s moon mission is intended to be used in the hybrid rocket engine ignition systems, high pressure composite tanks, valves and regulators received information about the systems.

Following the inspection of the facility Industry and Technology Deputy Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacar, Defense Industry Executive Vice President and Delta V Chairman Faruk Yigit, BAYKAR Technical Manager Selcuk Bayraktar, President of TÜBİTAK Hasan Mandal, Turkey Space Agency (TUA) leader Serdar Huseyin Yildirim, TUBITAK Space Technologies Institute Director Mesut Gökten, TÜBİTAK SAGE Institute Director Gürcan Okumuş and DeltaV General Manager Arif Karabeyoğlu, on the other hand, discussed the development work of the unmanned spacecraft planned to land hard on the Moon.

Date test

At the end of the meeting, the delegation moved to the command center where rocket engines tests were conducted. After the security measures were taken, the countdown for firing was started. At the command of Minister Varank, vertical firing test of the propulsion system of the Hybrid Probe Rocket (SORS), which was first developed by Delta V and would cross the space boundary, was carried out. The second firing was made for the hybrid rocket engine planned to be used in the “Hard Landing on the Moon” mission of the National Space Program in 2023. The tests performed have been concluded with full success. Both engines ran smoothly for the duration as planned.

“The first trials of the hybrid engine intended to be used in the lunar mission were successfully made”

Minister Varank and the accompanying delegation examined the systems in the test area again at the end of the firings and received information about the results of the test.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA), Minister of Industry and Technology Varank stated that they made two very successful firings, both firing of the Probe Rocket System (SORS) and the first ignition of the hybrid engine planned to be used in the lunar mission.

Stating that there was a targeted time of 50 seconds in the tests, Varank said, “This 50-second ignition has successfully completed. As of today, we can say that the first tests of the engine that can be used in the lunar mission have been successfully done.”

“Our goal in 2023, Turkey’s ability to deliver its own spacecraft to the Moon”

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Turkey’s road map in the space of 10 years and this is one of the most important components of the road map ‘Moon Mission’ Noting that Varank, continued as follows:

“Then we started to hear from the fact that the name of we the Delta Company V day often. As you know, the Moon mission in our goal of Turkey in 2023 can reach the moon its own spacecraft. Here all the capability in Turkey, we want to use all our companies capabilities. Delta V, especially in the world A company belonging to the Presidency Defense Industry Presidency, whose hybrid rocket engines are accepted as a new technology. Our teacher Arif (Karabeyoğlu) carries out all these processes. Today we witnessed two firings. we have witnessed the firing. at the same time the moon mission, so we have done the test of a smaller engine again firing we have planned to use the space. as you know, Turkey in particular show the world the capabilities in space applications, but also to commercialize this ability, a country wishing to obtain further economic benefits. So The technologies you have developed in this field are very valuable. “

Stating that liquid oxygen oxidized hybrid engine technology is a new technology that they attach great importance to, Varank stated that they successfully carried out the ignitions and that they were excited and happy in this process.

“An example of a rocket engine will be launched from Sinop in May”

Very valuable young people to invest in the future of Turkey and the Minister stressed that they showed a great effort to develop the technology Varank, “Rocket a sample of engines will be launched from Sinop in May. We plan to fold Important distances. At the same time the first fire in the hybrid rocket motor that can be used on the lunar mission we have done it today. ” said.

“We will have brought the Turkish flag to the Moon”

Varank said, “In 2023, we think we can achieve the first leg of our lunar mission goal. That is to say, we will bring our spacecraft together with the Moon. We will have brought the Turkish flag to the Moon. In this sense, we are happy and proud to make the first ignition of the engine here.” he spoke.

Delta V General Manager Karabeyoğlu stated that they carried out two very important rocket firings, “One of them was the static firing of the engine of the probe rocket to be launched from Sinop. This is an engine that uses liquid oxygen and it is the largest and best performance of its examples in the world. We fired another engine that could be used. It uses a different oxidizer. Here, we can say that we achieved success by firing for 50 seconds. ” used the expressions.

“Step by step we go to the moon”

Noting that the firings were successfully completed, Karabeyoğlu continued as follows:

“Both engines provided exactly the performance we expected. We got the firing times we wanted. We got the thrust we wanted. We can say that it was a full success. The tests of the lunar engine will continue accelerating from now on. Today maybe we did one of the first tests. But maybe we will do hundreds of tests. We will ensure the reliability. The probe was not the first test of the rocket. We have done many tests before. But this is the longest burning, highest performance test. What will happen next? If everything goes well in May, I hope we will launch Sonde at high altitudes. Today we will go to the moon. We tested the rocket engine of the spacecraft. Step by step, we go to the moon. “

The world’s most advanced hybrid rocket engine

On the other hand, the Probe Rocket System hybrid engine developed by Delta V passed the vertical firing test and achieved a total thrust that could reach space. It has been learned that in the coming months, a “flight demonstration” will be held with launch tests.

Sors of one of Turkey’s largest rocket system also has the world’s most advanced hybrid rocket motor technology, which comprises oxidizing liquid and solid fuels and transferred as an innovative technology.
