USA, (DHA) – American experts found that in laboratory research, masks made of cotton provide more protection against coronavirus than synthetic masks because they retain moisture in the breath.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in the United States of America (USA) compared the filtration properties of various mask materials against coronavirus in the laboratory.
Research has revealed that masks made of cotton weave are better at filtering particles when exposed to moist breath and improve filtration by 12 to 45 percent by absorbing water in moisture.
It was stated that cotton masks were more effective at filtering particles than synthetic masks. The researchers also found that the high humidity of inhaled breath increased the filtering properties of cotton masks by 33 percent.
