Back tax for YouTubers (Ministry initiated review)


The increase in the number of people who generate income based on the number of views by creating special content on social media, especially YouTube, led the Ministry of Treasury and Finance to initiate special investigation on the taxation of these revenues.

The World According to newspaper reports, Finance, launched a retrospective study over a 5-year tax payments made to Google Ireland’s natural persons’ bank accounts in Turkey. In this context, penalized assessments were sent to some people.

Videos uploaded to YouTube by people with more than a thousand subscribers are advertised after exceeding the 4 thousand hours viewing limit. The owner of the video earns money from these ads based on the number of views.
